What to bring

We keep things simple so you can focus on the workout. For all BEAT81 classes, just bring:
  • Comfortable activewear
  • Clean workout sneakers
  • Towel
  • A bottle of water
For our RIDE classes:

We provide cycling shoes at no extra cost, and your coach will help you get clipped in and set up properly before class starts.

03

What to do

Arrive a little early

Please arrive 10 minutes before class to change, pick up your gear, and get set up calmly before the workout starts.

Follow the cues — at your pace

Listen to the coach, watch the screen if you’re wearing a sensor, and adjust as you go. You’re encouraged to slow down, reduce reps, lower weights, or take a pause whenever needed.

Use your first session to get familiar

Our workouts may feel different from what you’re used to — that’s normal. Focus on learning the flow, the equipment, and the structure. Intensity can come later.

About the screens & sensors

The Sensor

We provide heart-rate sensors and straps so you can see your effort in real-time. At the start of class, find your name on the screen and take the sensor that matches your number.

Your workout card

Your card shows:
Your current heart-rate zone (shown by color)
Your BEAT Points (overall effort for the session)
Estimated active calories
Use the colors as guidance — ease off if needed, or push when you feel good.
How are BEAT Points calculated? What do the colors on the screen mean?

The workout screen

If you wear a sensor, you’ll see your data on the screen throughout the session. It’s not a competition — it’s a tool to help you understand your effort and train safely.

Any questions?

How advanced are these workouts?

Your coach will guide you through every move. Your coach will mention modifications available for every exercise.

Will people judge me?

BEAT81 is known for its great energy in the studio and our supportive community. We lift eachother up, celebrate wins, and enjoy the moment together. Judgement? Not for us.

How should I use the numbers on the screen during my workout?

If you notice you're constantly in the "RED" zone, even on the resting periods, feel free to take a little break or lower your load. If you're constantly in the "BLUE" zone, even after a full round, it may be time to push harder. It's your choice, do what feels right.

What are BEAT Points?

It's a system is designed to translate complex heart-rate behaviour into clear, actionable insights. BEAT Points are the sum of Sweat Points and Recovery Points, both which you earn during your session. They summarize how hard you worked during your session and how quickly you recovered.

What do the colors on my workout card mean?

The 4 colors align with the percentage of your maximum Heart Rate (max HR):

≤70% of max HR

71-80% of max HR

81-90% of max HR

91-100% of max HR

During your session, they help you understand the effort you're putting in. It's up to you to if you aim to push harder or recover better.

Note: Your max HR is calculated initially based on your age and sex. If you already know yours, reach out to your coach to adjust it in the system.
