Do I need to buy a heart rate sensor to attend?
No, heart rate sensors are supplied free of charge to wear during every workout. The body stats you provide when you sign up (height, weight, age, gender) are used to ensure each sensor accurately tracks your heart-rate, calories burned and GritPoints collected.
How early should I arrive for each workout?
We recommend you arrive 10 minutes before every workout so you have plenty of time to put on your heart rate sensor. If it's your first workout, arrive at least 15 minutes before, so our coaches can assist you with your heart rate sensor and learn more about your goals.
What are GritPoints and how do I earn them?
When you train at at least 80% of your maximum heart rate, you enter your Optimal Training Zone! 15 minutes in this optimal zone unlocks Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) - resulting in calorie burn for up to 36 hours after your workout. Every minute you stay here also earns you one of our exclusive GritPoints! Challenge yourself and others to pocket as many GritPoints as possible in every workout.
Is there any special equipment used during the workouts?
We use a variety of body weight exercises and functional equipment including, dumbbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, battle ropes, agility ladders, resistant bands and more. Check out a typical workout.
Do you train near me?
We're closer than you think, and offer multiple morning and evening classes to make training as convenient as possible. You can find our workout schedule and locations here.
Do you workout in extreme weather like rain, heat, etc?
Yes! We do keep training during hot, rainy summers and during cold, snowy winters. But we will never put you in harms way. You will be notified if a workout is cancelled due to extreme storms or temperatures. Join WhatsApp weather group of the Coach you will workout with to be informed of any schedule changes.
Are there locker rooms and showers?
Nope. All outdoor workouts are in public parks with no access to showers or tap water. We recommend you come dressed for training if you are not comfortable changing clothes in public.
Is there a place to store my belongings?
Your personal belongings can be stored in or next to our bikes during workouts. Our coaches always check for left behind belongings after each session, so please contact the coach you trained with if you forgot something. Email addresses for all coaches are available on the coaches' page.
What should I wear and bring with me?
Typical training gear and shoes worn to the gym or for a run will suffice. During summer months we recommend lightweight materials. In colder months, long shirts and trousers to stay warm are best. We train during rain, snow and hot temperatures, so please check the weather forecast so you’re prepared.
What should I eat before the workout?
Eat a small, 100 to 200 calorie snack about half an hour before training. It should be easy-to-digest carbohydrates like fruit, a bagel, or an energy bar. The other option is to eat a nutritionally balanced meal one or two hours before you start working out. It’s a challenging 45 minutes, so make sure you’re fueled up!
I haven't worked out in a long time? Can I still do the workout?
Of course. Beat81 is geared toward ALL levels of fitness and everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace. In each workout, we offer variations of each exercise to suit the needs and capabilities of everyone. Please inform a coach before your workout of any injuries or special needs, so they can either tailor the workout or suggest alternative exercises.
I have issues with (back, knees etc..). Can I still do the workout safely?
Absolutely. Our coaches are trained to offer variations of each exercise. Our HIIT workouts are full body focused, so there may be some movements that should not be performed with certain injuries. Please consult with your coach. They will happily tailor the workout or suggest skipping a training until your injury has healed. Your safety is our top priority.
I’m pregnant. Can I still do the workout?
If your doctor approves joining our trainings, please let us know so we can tailor workouts to meet medical requirements. The safety of you and your baby are our top priority. That said, heart rate training not only allows you to monitor how your heart is responding to physical activity during pregnancy, but also allows you to adjust your intensity during workouts to ensure safety.
Can I try a free workout?
Yes, we offer a free, 2-week trial for all newbies, so you can train as much as you’d like as you get to know us. Your free trial includes access to all workout locations and all scheduled trainings. See more
How do I book a workout?
Once your free trial ends, you’ll need to sign up for a subscription or take advantage of our flexible, pay per workout option. You can view all of our plans and prices. Once you’ve chosen the plan that works best for you, you can easily schedule workouts by location, time or coach.
Does my membership include access to all workout locations?
Yes, our plans are not tied to specific locations. You can attend any workout at any location with all of the plans we offer.
Can I book a coach as a personal trainer?
Yes, you can. All of our coaches provide one-on-one trainings. Please contact the coach you would like to work with.
What is the 6 Week Challenge?
The 6 Week Challenge plan is a one-time special offer we've designed specifically to help you get used to the intensity of our workouts as you make fitness part of your new routine. You can attend as many workouts as you wish, with no limit on location and time. If you complete at least 12 workouts during the 6 weeks, you will get a 60€ refund within 14 business days!
What do I do if I want to cancel?
You can cancel at any time by logging in to your Beat81 account and clicking “Settings.” Please note, we do not refund for unused trainings, so we recommend cancelling near the end of your current payment term.
Can I pause payments when I’m out of town?
We offer flexible (pay per workout) plans that are perfect for busy, unpredictable schedules. These plans are valid for 6 months, and typically cover any long-term holiday or business trips. If you have a monthly subscription, you can cancel at any time and sign up again when your return. Please see “What do I do if I want to cancel?” above for more information.
